William Joseph Smith, III ("Bill"), age 88, of Culpeper, VA, passed away in the presence of loving family on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Culpeper Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. William was born April 27, 1929, in North Bergen, New Jersey, to William Joseph Smith, Jr. and Anie Lazoriscak Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked as an engineer for U.S. Army Material Command of the Department of Defense.

William was born April 27, 1929, in North Bergen, New Jersey, to William Joseph Smith, Jr. and Anie Lazoriscak Smith. Surviving William are his three children, Laura Peterson and her husband Geoff of Front Royal, VA, Kathy Abdala and her husband Hassan of Woodbridge, VA, Bill Smith and his wife Wendy of Amissville, VA, fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his wife, Geraldine Deloris Smith and three children, Chris, Geraldine and Janet, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA, with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 14, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmondson Street, Culpeper, VA, with Father Kevin Walsh officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 831 Dranesville Road, Herndon, VA at 2:30 p.m.
